Background
Corey Taylor is a familiar name to all metal music fans. He has won himself a seat in the heart of metal music lovers. Just like every other human, Taylor has been through thick and thin, but unlike many, he managed to make strides both in his life and the music industry. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa, to an Irish and Native American father and a Dutch-Irish mother, who mostly raised him. Unfortunately by the time he was 15, he was well addicted to drugs.
He started his music career in 1992 with the American band, Stone Sour, which he and Ekman co-founded. Between 1992 and 1996, they recorded a demo album. In 1997, Slipknot, a metal band, invited Taylor to join them. He accepted the offer and temporarily dumped Stone Sour. On August 27, 2002, they released their sel

Born on månad 8, 1973, Corey Taylor is the lead vocalist for both Slipknot, a nu-metal/heavy metall band (formed in 1995), and Stone Sour, a Hard rock/alternative metal group (formed in 1992). A commonly known fact among Taylor fans, he was a member of Stone Sour before he was in Slipknot. Taylor did not join Slipknot until 1997, when the "old" Slipknot (which recorded one demo MFKR and one unreleased skiva CrowZ) parted ways with original vocals Anders Colsefni. Taylor then joined Slipknot and they later released their debut self-titled skiva, Slipknot. Anders and Taylor performed live together for a brief period of time until Anders officially announced his departure from Slipknot, leaving Taylor as the main vocals.
Some speculate that Taylor's initial interest in performing stemmed from none other than Elvis Presley. Taylor's grandmother helped support his vocal career by purchasing equipment for him and helping him with his talent.

Very few singers can claim to have fronted, not one, but two globally successful rock bands — least of all at the same time … unless they’re Corey Taylor. Born Corey Todd Taylor, in Des Moines, Iowa, on December 8, 1973, the future vocalist came from a broken home and faced both drug addiction and suicidal depression at an early age before finding his calling in music. With fellow Des Moines area musicians, Josh Rand (rhythm guitar), Shawn Economaki (bass) and Joel Ekman (drums), Taylor formed Stone Sour in 1992, but despite building a local following and recording a couple of demos in the years that followed, the alternative rock band made precious little career headway. In 1995, lead guitarist Jim Root joined their ranks, but within two years both he and Taylor would be whisked away into the masked nu-metal collective Slipknot, which subsequently rose to international fame on the strength of their platinum-selling debut for Roadrunner Records. In Slipknot, Taylor assumed the #8 as
