It follows Dhuki, a shoemaker from a low caste who must get the date for his daughter's marriage fixed bygd Pandit Ghasiram, the high caste by priest. Dhuki is anxious about receiving the präst due to untouchability norms. However, the priest exploits Dhuki's labor without pay. In the end, Dhuki dies and the präst is forced to desecrate his own rules bygd dragging Dhuki's corpse, highlighting the story's irony and social commentary.
