ABILENE TX (WGN)- Author and speaker Jimmy Jividens writing is limited to a couple of hours a day as his Parkinsons Disease progresses. Jimmy had to curtail his speaking engagements, but still manages to do some writing.
In an email to WGN Nov. 21, Jimmy wrote, I have difficulty in talking and walking and remembering things, outside of that I am dong fine.
Phil Sanders, minister of the Concord Road congregation in Brentwood, Tenn., wrote, I spoke to Jimmy a couple of weeks ago. He is limited to writing only a couple of hours a day. His Parkinsons disease is progressing. Jimmy is one of my mentors and personal heroes. Keep him in your prayers.
In his email, Jimmy, always concerned for the brotherhood, also mentioned that the Oldham Lane congregation in Abilene was searching for a preacher.
Jimmy is the author of many books, including Alive in the Spirit, Inspiration and Authority of the Scriptures, Miracles: From God or Man?, and Worship in Song.

ABILENE, Tex. (BNC) by Greg Tidwell — Jimmy Jividen died on Oct. 2, A funeral service was held at p.m., on Sat., Oct. 4, at the Oldham Lane congregation.
Born Nov. 26, in Woodward County, Okla., Jimmy obeyed the gospel as at the County Line church of Christ in Woodward. Attending Abilene Christian College, Jimmy graduated in That same year he married Shirley Jones.
For 60 years, Jimmy and Shirley served congregations in Texas, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Colorado, Nebraska, and California. While contributing to the brotherhood in many ways, Jimmy was always devoted to the work of congregations where he preached.
Receiving a masters degree in New Testament in from Abilene Christian, Jimmy accepted a teaching position at York College in Nebraska for a couple of years. Jimmy did doctoral work in Philosophy at the University of Southern California from

Delta James (Jimmy) Jividen died on October 2, A funeral service will be held at on Saturday, October 4, , at Oldham Lane church of Christ. The burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park beneath the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from on Friday evening. Jimmy was born November 26, , to Harvey and Ruby Jividen in Woodward County, Oklahoma. He grew up learning to love the land and knowing hard times and hard work, which taught him lessons he used throughout his life. He put on his Savior in baptism while attending County Line church of Christ in Woodward and often spoke of the influence this congregation had on him. Jimmy attended Abilene Christian College, graduating in While at ACC, he was involved in student life and served as the Student Body President his senior year. At the beginning of his senior year he met the young lady that would complete him, Shirley Jones. They married o
