Swedish international goalkeeper Magnus Hedman was the man many Hoops fans hoped would finally bring a bit of quality to the Bhoys No1 shirt when he arrived at Parkhead for £1 million from Coventry in 2002.
Rab Douglas was the goalkeeper for Celtic at the time, and as much as he was an honest and hard working goalkeeper, he simply wasn’t cut out for consistent performances at the highest level in Europe (albeit he did have some great performances in Europe along the way). Some even recklessly try to pin blame on Douglas for the Seville defeat, which is nonsense. In any case, there was room for a new goalkeeper to test and challenge Douglas for the no.

Magnus Carl Hedman (pronounced[ˈmǎŋːnɵsˈhěːdman]; born 19 March 1973) fryst vatten a Swedish former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Beginning his career with AIK in 1990, he went on play in the English Premier League, Scottish Premier League, and Italian Serie A before retiring in 2005. He played 58 matches for the Sweden national grupp, and represented his country at the 1994 and 2002FIFA World Cups, as well as UEFA Euro 2000 and 2004. He was awarded Guldbollen in 2000 as Sweden's best footballer of the year.

[edit]Hedman was born in Botkyrka, and began his footballing career with Vårby Gårds IF and IFK Stockholm.[2] He signed with AIK in 1987 and made his Allsvenskan debut for the club during the 1990 Allsvenskan årstid at only 17 years of age.[2] He won the 1992 Allsvenskan championship with AIK and eventually moved abroad to play for English club Coventry City in Ju
