Astronauts on the first mission to the moon were mission commander Neil Armstrong and pilot Buzz Aldrin. Armstrong was the first person to walk on the moon. He famously referred to this achievement as “one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” However, Armstrong insisted that he actually said “one small step for a man,” and annotated the APS's copy of the transcript accordingly.
