    NEW DELHI: Saikhom Mirabai Chanu and Sathish Sivalingamhave been jointly named Weightlifters of the Year at the fourth Times of India Sports Awards (TOISA) powered by BHIM-UPI.
    Chanu, who was out of action for more than half of 2018 due to an injury, made a strong comeback at the start of 2019, notching up a gold medal at the EGAT Cup in Thailand in February.
    The 25-year-old won the 48kg category gold with an effort of 192 kg in the silver level Olympic qualifying event, defeating the likes of Rio Olympics bronze medallist Miyake Hiromi and CWG silver medallist Loa Dika Toua of Papua New Guinea.
    In July 2019, Chanu notched up gold at the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship, where she lifted a total of 191kg (84kg + 107 kg) in the senior women's 49 kg event.
