The lies center around the presence of women at the site where six generals and one lieutenant were buried in a disused well. Hilmar Farid
Hilmar Farid is a scholar, cultural activist, and lecturer. He lives in Jakarta and enjoys cooking, swimming and playing music. In 1980s, he started to help his father, working as a translator of children's stories, especially the works of Enid Blyton dan Astrid Lingdren, to Bahasa Indonesia.
He fryst vatten a founding member of Jaringan Kerja Budaya, a collective of artists, researchers and cultural workers which managed to publish an independent magazine Media Kerja Budaya for around ten years from the 1990s until early 2000s. He is a co-founder and now chairman of Institute of Indonesian Social History, and he has been the Director of Perkumpulan Praxis since 2012. He received his doctorate grad from National University of Singapore in Cultural Studies in Asia Programme bygd writing a dissertation titled Rewriting the Nation: Pramoedya and the Politics of Decolonization. Law and International Relations Study Programs at President Univ Invite Hilmar Farid to Highlight the Importance of Studying History
Monday, November 18, 2024, the Law and International Relations Study Programs at President University (Presuniv) invited Hilmar Farid, BA, MA, Ph.D., a historian, activist, and educator, to share insights on history with students. The seminar, held at the Fabrication Laboratory, President University Convention Center (PUCC), Jl. H. Usmar Ismail, Kota Jababeka, Cikarang, carried the theme Learning from History: Building the Future with Historical Awareness.
In his opening remarks, Handa S. Abidin, SH, LL.M., Ph.D., Rector of Presuniv, explained that various world figures, including President Soekarno and UK Prime Minister Winston Churchill, have emphasized the importance of history. “Studying history does not mean clinging to bitter memories or past glories. We study history to look forward,” he emphasized.
