[edit]Countess Sophie Chotek von Wognin was born in Stuttgart as the fifth child and fourth daughter of Count Bohuslav Chotek von Chotkow und Wognin and his wife, Countess Wilhelmine Kinsky von Wchinitz und Tettau (–). The House of Hohenberg is an Austrian and Czech noble family that descends from Countess Sophie Chotek (), who in married Archduke Francis Ferdinand of Austria-Este (), the heir presumptive to the throne of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. As their marriage was a morganatic one, none of their children was in the line of succession to the Austro-Hungarian throne. Nevertheless, they represent the senior agnatic line of the House of Habsburg-Lorraine.
The head of the house bears the title of duke with the style of Highness, while all other members are titled as princes or princesses with the style of Serene Highness.
