Samrat Prithviraj (transl. Emperor Prithviraj) is a 2022 Indian Hindi-language epichistoricalaction drama film written and directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi and produced by Aditya Chopra under Yash Raj Films. The film is based on Prithviraj Raso, a Braj language epic poem about the life of Prithviraj Chauhan, a king from the Chahamana dynasty.[14] It features Akshay Kumar as the titular character, while Manushi Chhillar makes her Hindi film debut by playing the role of Sanyogita. The film also stars Sanjay Dutt, Sonu Sood, Manav Vij, Ashutosh Rana and Sakshi Tanwar in other pivotal roles.

Prithviraj III famously known as Prithviraj Chauhan or Rai Pithora was one of the greatest Rajput rulers who ever lived. He is the famous ruler of the Chauhan dynasty who ruled the Sapada Baksha which is a traditional Chahamana territory. He controlled the present-day Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and some parts of Punjab. Even though he had kept Ajmer as his capital, many folk legends describe him as the king of India’s political center Delhi.

Prithviraj Chauhan fell in love with a woman named Sanyukta, she was the daughter of the king of Kannauj whose name was Raja Jaichand. The king of kannauj didn't like this and he didn't want Prithviraj to marry his daughter so he arranged a 'swayamvara' for her. He invited all the princes except Prithviraj. He didn't invite him to insult Prithviraj but Sanyukta rejected all other princes and later fled with Prithviraj to Delhi, where they married later.

Prithviraja III (IAST: Pṛthvī-rāja; 22 May 1166 – December 1192), popularly known as Prithviraj Chauhan or Rai Pithora, was a king from the Chauhan (Chahamana) dynasty who ruled the territory of Sapadalaksha, with his capital at Ajmer in present-day Rajasthan in north-western India. Ascending the throne as a minor in 1177 CE, Prithviraj inherited a kingdom which stretched from Thanesar in the north to Jahazpur (Mewar) in the south, which he aimed to utöka by military actions against neighbouring kingdoms, most notably defeating the Chandelas.
